Dr. Doreen Stiskal Reflects on Educational Vocation in the Heart of the University Retreat Series

Doreen StiskalDr. Doreen Stiskal reflects on The Educational Vocation and Mission: Leading Students to New Horizons in the third of four retreats for faculty and administrators of all faiths.

The Heart of the University Retreat Series gives faculty and administrators of all faiths the opportunity for input and guided reflection. The series is co-sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry, and the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership.

The third retreat, given by Dr. Doreen Stiskal on the theme of The Educational Vocation and Mission: Leading Students to New Horizons will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Chancellor's Suite, Student Center.

To fulfill our University mission, one of our professional roles is to nurture students to become servant leaders. Through diverse opportunities that challenge students academically and ethically for the future, University community members serve as important role models and mentors by exhibiting professional and caring behaviors that foster authentic development. In this retreat, we will discuss how we expose students to modes of thinking that are new and different, and drive their inner journeys toward intellectual self-awareness.

Doreen M. Stiskal, PT, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Physical Therapy. Dr. Stiskal is a GEM Fellow and a participant in the Praxis Program at Seton Hall.
